Going Green

New opportunities for manufacturers

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) believes New Zealand’s specialised manufacturers need to focus on higher-value products if they are to reach their full economic potential. NZTE released a report in August 2008 called "Global Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability: An overview on the growing global market and consumer base for sustainable products and services"

Environmental considerations are one area where New Zealand companies have the opportunity to develop higher-value products and thus create competitive advantage over foreign imports. New Zealand companies need to look at developing products that provide savings but also encourage sustainability.

Sell a “green” product or service

The market for environmentally sensitive products and services is exploding. Companies thinking of starting a new business or revamping their existing company, need to consider focusing on serving the eco-conscious market directly.

In virtually every field, there are consumers and businesses seeking eco-friendly alternatives, and they could be the source.

The Seven Sins of New Product Development

This is an article by Harvey Briggs using the 7 deadly sins and developing them towards NPD

I found it very interesting; it gave me great insight into the failure of new products and the pitfalls that people get caught in.

I thought this needed to be shared!

Wordle

by Christa Nebbeling — last modified Jan 28, 2009 10:11 AM

Quote from the site: www.wordle.net

"Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends."

The creator of this site is amazing! This is so easy and so fun to play with!

A few of my creations:

Before this i spent hours trying to make my own and they never came out anywhere near this great!

I love the way you can play with not only the colours but the font and the layout to customise it exactly how you want it to look

Not only is it so easy to create but the restrictions on using the images elsewhere seem pretty open, which adds to the simplicity of the whole process

I bow down to the creator of wordle....so simple yet so useful!!!!
