S2.1 To start a team in the right way
The opening of any project is nerve wracking, there are many unknowns and not many comforting knowns. So there are high levels of uncertainty and anxiety...at first.
Do not worry this is normal in NPD and design.
There are several human challenges to be faced in this opening studio session:
- You do not know who you are working with
- You do not yet know much about each other personally
- You have to find the best ways of working in small cross disciplinary groups
More than that we have to engage with:
- Being open to others ideas
- Finding your own creativity and best skills
- Trying out new modes of visual communication
- Learning how to generate ideas
Will we solve all of this in one 2 hour session? Probably not.
But we will begin to build confidence and trust and a sense of direction. The attached booklet provides a structured way of kicking off your team, and gives guidance on what to include in your team contract.
