Task description

Up to Tuesday 26th of February

Task description

Posted by Charlotta Windahl at February 19. 2008

For the 26th if would be great if we all go through the Brainstorm summary document, maybe some new ideas/ activities or even questions will pop up that we feel are really important to incorporate in the document. If this is the case, please add these ideas in this discussion forum and then I will add them into the document so that we get updated documents to work with.

Cheers

Lotta

These are seom general thoughts on the collection of material labelled Brainstorm summary to which we have all contributed over 3 months.

1 This was a useful enjoyable and important running discussion which should continue. the fact that this kind of process is slow is fine ..provided we reach the destination...in time

2 One of the implicit benefits, which we do not talk about, is that this is a means of getting to know each otherand build trust and rapport

3 The mechanisms of exploring  and defining what we are about have been almost entirely verbal This is what most managers would do This is the medium in which they are comfortable. from my experince and perspective this is a WEAKNESS of management..words capture some thinsg well..other thinsg not at all

4 Linda's try at a VENN DIGRAM typemap I think is importnat becuse what we have otherwise is a dozen lists or so

5 My impulse is to want to see THE BIG PICTURE so something along the lines of Roles, networks, tasks, territories representing what we are doing VISUALLY

6 Such a thing would lean on the Brainstorm work but be a massive condensation of it

7 This is not just for ourselves but for outsiders, students, advisors. If we had a short general GIPI brochure ( which I am working on) what would the diagram be at the front which explained the structure and intent of the project

8 This is thinking in a different way ( See Mintzberg's Organigraphics HBR) and usinga different medium to communicate. See also Charles Eames great venn diagram for design  and its management...Everything you need to know about design management in one hit! I have a draft paper called Eames in the Klondike which extends these ideas...I shall try to download a pdf here

9 So in summary ..what we have left out conspicuously is the visual elements.. graphic explanations, venn diagrams, semi lattic structures, flows, mindmaps and so on
