Task description
Up to Tuesday 19th February
Some guidelines for the homework next week:
Today we have started narrowing down the brainstorming by starting
discussing 'general requirements' for the activities/ ideas that we have
identified so far (se brainstorm summary document).
The idea is that a list of requirements will be used as a checklist and
help in the process of prioritising and choosing between our ideas.
We came up with the following checklist that should be applicable to all
the activities that we undertake within the GIPI project (no matter
which subheading they belong to, i.e. project management, project
communication, project strategy, firms, team members, vision... (see
Brainstorm summary document)):
Doable within 1.5 years
Integrate business, design, engineering
Visible output
Accessible output
Multiple perspectives (satisfy 'the audience': research + teaching +
industry)
Teamwork (min 2 people)
Exernal (macro+micro link) input and output
Global understanding
Compatible, harmonious, sympathetic with local design, business &
technology (DBT) community
Provide NPD 'confidence'
Synergies with other projects & personal interests
Enhance/ compatible with future funding
As a next step we concluded that we will think about more specific
requirements that might be applicable to our subheadings and we gave
ourselves some homework for next time. Which means that we divided up
the subheadings between us and next time we will discuss the subheadings
with the answers of the person responsible as a starting point.
These are the assigned areas:
Project management - Rainer
Project strategy - David W
Firms - Chris
Vision - Linda
Team members - David H
Research - Lotta and Aruna
An added task is that we should all think of Project
communication/promotion requirements, we forgot that subheading.
Next time we will discuss the subheadings with the answers of the person
responsible as a starting point.
Please be aware of the there following points:
Do not duplicate the list provided above which by default will apply
to the subheadings as well. We might come up with some more specific
requirements for the subheadings, we might not, the important thing is
that we think it through.
The idea is to discuss the presented points therefore all of the
identified requirements might not accepted by the whole team (we have
come to the narrowing down part...)
Be prepared to write your identified requirements in bullet points on
a poster paper, i.e. not too long sentences.
Do not forget to think about requirements for project
communication/promotion on top of your assigned area.
Cheers
Lotta
